The 2019-release of Macallan's 18 Year Old triple-cask-matured is a mixture of European and American oak casks that have previously contained sherry, as well as American oak casks which have contained bourbon. The range was introduced in 2004 as the Fine Oak, but was rebranded as the Triple Cask in 2018 in order to streamline it with the distillery's Sherry Oak Cask and Double Cask lines of the core range. Aged in a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, as well as ex-bourbon casks, this is a fruity Highland single malt with notes of citrus, dried fruit, bitter cocoa and oak spice throughout the palate. 2018 saw the 18 year old also become an annual batch release, similar to the classic Sherry Oak Cask expression. This is the subsequent year's release.
