While the beloved Lagavulin 16 Year Old remains a benchmark among Islay whiskies, we see precious few releases that showcase this unique spirit at significant age. After nearly 30 years in American oak hogsheads Lagavulin’s assertive smokiness has become subtler and more refined, veering into the herbal and medicinal. Characteristic notes of seawater, shellfish and preserved citrus fruit lead into a long finish filled with embers, fragrant spices and rocky minerality.
