Hakushu - Japanese Forest Bittersweet Edition, Batch 1

At the base of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Southern Japan Alps lies the Hakushu Distillery. Completed in 1973, it continues to make whisky in harmony with nature. the water from which the whisky is made is crystal clear natural water refined on granite rock. Slow maturation through the bountiful seasons deepens the flavour of Hakushu whisky.

The 'Bittersweet' description appears to hark back to the Hakushu Spanish Oak which appeared in 2021, which was aged in Spanish Oak barrels that previously held Sherry, thus giving it sweet and bittersweet notes imparted by the Spanish Oak barrels.
