The Powerscourt Distillery has unveiled its inaugural self-made whiskey, the Fercullen Single Malt First Release. This single malt underwent a triple distillation process in copper stills, followed by maturation in former Bourbon casks housed in the Powerscourt Estate’s warehouse. The resulting whiskey delivers an inviting aroma filled with fruity notes and aromatic baking spices. On the palate, it expresses the dominance of sweet vanilla and salted caramel, complemented by flavors of ripe apples, pears, and a hint of spicy oak. With a limited release of just 6,000 bottles at an alcohol volume of 46.0%, the Fercullen Single Malt First Release truly is a unique offering.
