About Morris Distillery
Morris Distillery, known as Morris of Rutherglen, is a historic Australian winery and single malt whisky distillery located in Rutherglen, Victoria.
History: The Morris family began producing fortified wines at the site in 1859, with a winemaking heritage spanning six generations.
Ownership: Since 2016, the winery and distillery have been owned by the Casella family, under the corporate name Copper & Grain Distilling Co., which is part of the larger Casella Family Brands (known for Yellow Tail wine).
Whisky Production: Whisky production commenced in 2016, utilizing a restored original 1930s copper pot hybrid column still named "Aurora".
Ingredients: The whisky is made with 100% Australian ingredients, including locally grown barley and water sourced from the Snowy
Mountains.
Maturation: A key characteristic of Morris whisky is its maturation process. It is aged in French and American oak ex-Shiraz and Cabernet wine barrels from the family's own wineries, prepared in their on-site cooperage, and then finished in casks that previously held their world-renowned fortified wines.
Awards: The company is recognized as Australia's most awarded wine and whisky brand.
